How it all began…
House of Egypt started long before it had a name.
Some of my earliest memories are of going to antique auctions with my grandmother. I was fascinated by everything, the paintings, the craftsmanship, the unusual objects, and especially the stories they carried. Looking back, I believe those days shaped so much of what I love today.
Art eventually became part of my own life. I painted and had the opportunity to exhibit my work in Egypt and Europe, and later started designing products for friends who owned handmade workshops. That was when I fell in love with the process of turning an idea into something you could actually hold. Something made by hand.
Eventually, I wanted to create pieces of my own, and in 2019 I launched my first brand. In 2022, life took me in a different direction and I had to step away.
Coming back has meant much more to me than restarting a business. I knew I didn’t want to simply pick up where I had left off. I wanted to build something bigger, more personal, and with room for all the things I love.
That became House of Egypt.
Today, we work with Egyptian artisans and makers, create and discover handmade pieces, put together curated gift boxes, and have a little fun with our Scoops.
You’ll find art, accessories, stationery, homeware and little treasures throughout the House. Some pieces are useful, some are playful, some carry a little nostalgia, and some are beautifully imperfect. What matters to me is that there is a human story behind them.
We also try to create as consciously as we can. Scraps, offcuts and leftover materials aren’t automatically waste to us; we look for ways to reuse, recycle and turn them into something new.
House of Egypt is deeply personal to me. It carries a little of my grandmother, a little of the artist I was, a lot of the maker I became, and the new chapter I’m building now alongside incredibly talented Egyptian hands.
